FEAR...
Coming up with a title for this was really difficult. You can give it what comes to your mind after reading. 😉
If you don’t give me what I want, the video would go viral by 6:00PM, I looked at the message in my dm, fighting for control. I was about to go live on Instagram and this is happening. ‘It’s just a mischievous troll’, I whispered to calm my nerves, but I know I had done things my followers should never hear of. I prayed it should just be a click bait from an influencer or a link to a blog.
I envisioned the hashtag on twitter, followed by mocking meme. No! I need to ascertain if the message was from a verified account. A click on the senders profile leaves me empty as her twitter profile and avatar was just a dark image of tear drop? I replied with a question emoji, hoping I was being teased, but no reply.
A need to experience something crazy made me attend the never tell club owned by a group I never knew existed until Kunle invited me. My actions once inside the club were beyond my control and taking an oath of secrecy, it lies in my heart. This has cost me peace and I am drowning. Only if I can shut it off.
I pretended like all was fine, but within me, I understood my world would fall apart. How do I begin to explain to the congregation that it was the work of the devil? Of course, he came in the form of human to make me long for an experience of the world. He lured me just as he enticed Eve. The devil only goes for women right?
I will not allow the dark cloud of fear embrace my heart. You can only win a fight when there is an engagement. I will still go live, calmly talk to my followers, sing the hymns and shout hallelujah. What happened in the dark room should remain in the dark room. I prided myself in exuding confidence in the mist of storm. Cowering for blackmail would only offset my balance.
(My mind is constantly telling stories).

Beautiful story. suggested Title "The temptation"
ReplyDeleteFear of the unknown, is a risk we all take daily
ReplyDeleteI think we all need to realise that as Christians when we commit a sin and repent of it; God forgives us but most times we have to deal with the consequences. That's what is happening to the lady in the story.
ReplyDeleteIt is also important to have friends and acquaintances that share your beliefs.
I think Fear is a great title for this piece.
Well done Nancy!
