BIRTH SCARS

I just stepped out of the restroom, gisting, smiling while trying to fix my jean trouser and the next thing I heard was ‘why is your tummy like that’? I would have simply laughed it off or pretended not to have heard but something tugged at my heart.

I felt pained. Maybe because I expected better from a fellow mother or a woman, but then, women’s problems are women themselves. I was about to explain when I was cut by another statement of how she has two kids and her tummy not as wrinkled as mine.😌

While trying to come up with excuses and justifications about my wrinkled stomach, I realized it wasn’t worth the stress of overthinking it. One, her two kids probably weighed lesser than mine, two, I survived the journey, yes, it was really a journey and most importantly I’m hoping to get more wrinkles.

It’s important we understand that every birth scar is a testimony of life no matter how ugly you think it is. Having a less ugly scar doesn’t make you better, rather, I think it means  you had a smooth and jolly ride.

The wrinkles from childbirth are attributed to the size of the baby and how your once perfect flat stomach stretches to accommodate the child. So imagine little me, sorry I mean petite, with my sexy tummy 😝, housing a child of over 4kg.

You may squeeze your face when you see it, but I look at my mirror almost everyday, caress my wrinkles and then kiss my baby.

We scar differently

  9. I would have assumed that a fellow woman would empathize more with the scars and provide words of encouragement. It just shows that the most important thing is self love. Always love yourself cos nobody can love you as much as you love yourself, scars and all.

  11. Scars or not, a woman is entitled to feel good about her body, yes! The worst thing that can happen to a woman is yielding to peer pressures.
Just in case you feel like giving improving the tone of your tummy, thereby reducing the wrinkles, you can contact a physiotherapist.✌️✌️
